Job Summary:

This position reports to the VP of Nutrition Services and is located in the Mobile, AL area. The successful candidate will plan modified diets as requested by the attending medical director, provide nutritional assessments for patients as needed, and counsel patients and families on dietary plans, food selections, and nutritional principles. Additionally, the individual will provide in-service training to the nutritional services staff and support the facilities' nutrition needs by assisting with menu creation and client-based nutritional requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct menu nutritional analysis as needed for clients.
  • Support the facilities' nutrition needs by assisting with menu creation and client-based nutritional requests.
  • Maintain a current understanding of MNT related to the healthcare/hospital environment, specifically enteral and parental nutrition, and texture modification diets.
  • Have a working knowledge of the different nutritional standards under the Dietary Guidelines for Americans for multiple age groups.
  • Consult with patients and families regarding dietary needs and goals.
  • Plan modified diets as requested by the medical director/medical staff.
  • Monitor patient care regarding nutrition and diets.
  • Perform nutritional assessments (quarterly and annually) and dietary planning as needed.
  • Communicate patient special nutritional needs to the Food Service Director in a timely manner.
  • Support facility quality and performance improvement goals.
  • Participate in the Nutrition Care committee.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition.
  • CDR certification. Pennsylvania licensure as a registered dietitian is preferred.
  • Proficiency in all computer applications, particularly menu analysis programs.
  • Working knowledge of basic computing and MS Excel spreadsheet programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years' experience in residential care facilities.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a changing work environment.
  • Excellent communication and research skills.
  • Occasional travel to client locations within PA to accommodate clients' needs.
