SENIOR LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGIST (LAUNCH VEHICLES)

Our Falcon program is essential for ensuring reliable transportation for astronauts, supporting national security missions, and facilitating the deployment of Starlink satellites.

This position is a key contributor to our Falcon Rocket Supply Chain Team, serving as the supply chain expert for flight components.

Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the timely delivery of critical components while focusing on risk mitigation to maintain production schedules, automating processes, optimizing workflows, and establishing vendor agreements to achieve program objectives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, lead, enhance, and implement established sourcing strategies with comprehensive metrics tracking to ensure business and production effectiveness.
  • Maintain precise configurations of assemblies (BOMs).
  • Ensure accurate lead times and inventory levels (including spares) to prevent production delays.
  • Facilitate technical discussions, make vs buy evaluations, introduce new products, and conduct cost modeling to ensure effective procurement.
  • Perform risk management assessments considering historical performance data, demand versus supply, and lead time analysis from components to launch vehicle integration.
  • Enhance logistics, manufacturing, quality assurance, ordering/redistribution policies, and refurbishment strategies for the components under your purview.
  • Support supplier facility visits to leverage expertise and equipment while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Lead commercial and quality initiatives, driving improvements in performance with teams aligned with the strategic sourcing vision.
  • Act as the primary resource for engineering, supply chain, production, and reliability stakeholders to determine optimal sourcing strategies, logistics, and lead time improvements.
  • Build cross-functional teams and champion continuous improvement initiatives to exceed cost, quality, and delivery benchmarks.
  • Provide proactive updates to management and engineering teams regarding critical supply challenges.
  • Conduct design reviews for manufacturability with input from supplier quality and engineering teams.
  • Champion value engineering projects aimed at enhancing part quality and reducing costs.
  • Manage a supplier bid-list with preferred suppliers.
  • Mitigate risks associated with sole/single sourcing to ensure supply continuity.
  • Develop and sustain robust relationships both internally and with external suppliers.
  • Evaluate and leverage supplier capabilities, equipment, capacity, and procurement risks.
  • Place purchase orders based on MRP planning messages for production components.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders and invoices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree; or bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas; or 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control
  • Master production scheduling

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the work week, including international travel.
  • Availability to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary to meet critical milestones.
  • This position requires onsite presence.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Senior Logistics and Supply Chain Strategist: $90,000 - $115,000.00 per year.


Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

In addition to base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, including company stock, stock options, or cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and stock purchase options at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

You may accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually.

Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave per year.
