Position Overview

The Building Custodian plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of Larkin Hall while fostering a welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of the front office, cafeteria, meeting rooms, restrooms, and other communal spaces at all times.
  • Maintain floors in pristine condition through regular sweeping and mopping.
  • Clean windows to enhance the facility's appearance.
  • Regularly empty and sanitize trash receptacles and manage recycling efforts.
  • Keep the janitor's closet organized and ensure cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of the building's exterior and surrounding areas, including power washing and graffiti removal.
  • Assist with minor landscaping and lawn care tasks as needed.
  • Refill humidifiers and perform basic plant maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Execute deep cleaning projects in the kitchen and restrooms as directed by the Facilities Technician or Culinary Management team.
  • Report any safety, sanitation, or fire hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment as necessary.
  • Stock and maintain pantry, cooler, and refrigerator supplies.
  • Adhere to the Back of the House Dress Code Policy by reporting to work in the proper uniform.
  • Complete minor handiwork and other relevant tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:

  • Possess knowledge of safety hazards and the proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Exhibit impeccable service standards and a keen attention to detail.
  • Effectively manage time to complete all daily responsibilities.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Work collaboratively as a team player, treating co-workers and guests with respect.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, and senior management teams.
Language Proficiency:

Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently. Bilingual skills are advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
