About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team at Duravant. As a CNC Programmer, you will play a critical role in planning and executing numerical control programs to control contour path punching, plasma, and laser cutting of metal parts on automatic machine tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimensions and configurations of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds, feed rates, material type, gauge, orientation, and quantities.
  • Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
  • Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outline the sequence of operations required to machine parts.
  • Prepare geometric layouts on graph paper or using computer-assisted software to show the location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machines.
  • Write programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode CNC or direct numerical control data to regulate movement of machines along cutting paths.
  • Compare computer printouts with original program sheets to ensure accuracy of machine instructions.
  • Utilize existing Excel remnant sheets to utilize remnant material before full sheets of material and update and maintain the database.
  • Frequently use the engineering change order (ECO) module in AX to research changes made to parts, update parts, static nests, and BOMs, and close implementation tasks.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer literacy and an understanding of CNC machine tools and their operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to convert standard to metric or use conversion software.
