Job Description

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Confluence Health, you will play a critical role in our radiology team. Your primary responsibility will be to perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures with minimal supervision.

You will prepare and operate various imaging equipment, including fixed radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable x-ray, and C-arm machines, while adhering to department protocols and ensuring safe practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Patient Preparation and Examination: Prepare patients for exams, perform all necessary procedures, and ensure effective operation of imaging equipment following radiation safety guidelines.

  2. Assisting Radiologists: Assist radiologists in fluoroscopic procedures and may perform minor procedures under their direction, in accordance with certification.

  3. Contrast Material Administration: Administer contrast material or medication under the direction of a physician, as required.

  4. Operating Room Assistance: Assist physicians during fluoroscopic procedures in the operating room.

  5. Sterile Equipment Setup: Set up sterile medical surgical equipment according to standards and procedure.

  6. Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies under the direction of an MD/RN.

  7. Image Review and Quality Evaluation: Review and evaluate diagnostic images for technical quality.

  8. Exam Verification and Updates: Verify patient information, update exam descriptions, and reflect actual exams performed.

  9. Clinical Instruction and Training: May assist in training and supervising student technologists.

  10. Maintenance and Reporting:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of x-ray equipment and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.

  • Reporting Malfunctions: Report malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.

Continuing Education and Compliance: Comply with continuing education requirements dictated by regulatory entities, attend department meetings, and participate in annual training and in-service programs.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Washington State Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) license.
