Highly Experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Neuro ICU Role

About This OpportunityWe are seeking a highly skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in the Neuro ICU department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients under the supervision of physician colleagues. Your expertise will ensure continuity of patient care by facilitating effective communication between the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Expertise: Provide day-to-day organizational and clinical direction and leadership of the healthcare provider team in collaboration with attending physicians. Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments for patients admitted to or scheduled for service/practice settings. Order, obtain, and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests. Establish medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
- Treatment Planning: Design, order, and document appropriate treatment plans/plans of care, including prescriptions of medications based on comprehensive reviews of HPI and diagnostic results. Initiate protocols/clinical pathways, evaluate the plan of care, and ensure timely intervention.
- Leadership and Education: Collaborate with attendings and residents regarding admission, discharge, and transfer decisions. Present patients in the nurse practitioner's caseload on rounds. Communicate the plan of care with appropriate providers, including the collaborative physician, primary care provider, referring provider, nursing staff, and case manager.
- Customer Service: Model and uphold a customer service focus to all internal and external customers. Demonstrate respect for all people in the work environment and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- A Master of Science Degree with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Registration and current licensure with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland. Certification in the area of specialty (DEA and CDS eligible).
- A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in the area of specialty.
- Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and overtime may be required.
- Regular exposure to patients possessing infectious diseases may occur; requires observance of 'Universal Precautions' by wearing gloves, goggles, and mask.
