Key Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Mainspring Energy, you will be integral in connecting design with production. Your role encompasses collaborating with design engineers, leading capital expenditure and value engineering assessments, and developing streamlined manufacturing and assembly processes for innovative products. You will advocate for prototyping initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions to production lines with an emphasis on work instruction maturity and error-proofing tools.
In this position, you will:
- Engage in new product development, working closely with design engineers to provide insights on manufacturability (DFM/DFX) and cost efficiency of new mechanical component designs.
- Employ industry-standard methodologies such as DOE, PFMEA, and 8D to proactively identify and mitigate risks while optimizing process parameters.
- Contribute to process enhancement and continuous improvement projects, balancing production lines to boost overall efficiency.
- Support prototyping efforts for proof of concept, generating comprehensive manufacturing documentation checklists and improvement strategies.
- Plan layouts for future factory design initiatives, gathering and documenting product and process requirements to inform equipment and tooling design, as well as defining process readiness for automation integration.
- Collaborate with suppliers and other engineering teams to develop manufacturing and testing processes, including process flows, equipment/fixture concept designs, implementation timelines, and validation plans.
- Evaluate the sustainability of fabrication technologies for specific part designs, planning validation experiments to demonstrate initial feasibility and manufacturing capabilities, followed by analysis and technical recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Hands-on experience in navigating at least one complete cycle from new product introduction to manufacturing process setup, including production initiation and optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of assembly process planning for electro-mechanical systems, stack-up tolerance analysis, failure mode analysis, 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks as the primary 2D/3D CAD design tool for generating assembly and individual part models.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the time.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is competitive, with additional pre-IPO stock options and benefits. This role may offer a hybrid work arrangement. Salary adjustments will be made based on local market conditions and the candidate's experience.
