Job Title: School Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Aveanna Healthcare LLC. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence
- Maintain and follow physician orders for any invasive procedure and/or skill
- Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent
- Attend Health Plan meetings and school conferences when applicable
- Participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered
- Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student's rights and overall wellbeing
- Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and wellbeing of students in the school health setting
- Report any changes in the student's mental, physical, or environmental condition to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and parent as applicable
- Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect
- Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment
- Maintain a neat and orderly workspace
- Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications
- Provide individual teaching and training with students and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable
- Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs
- Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered
- Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets according to company guidelines

Requirements:

- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice
- Current CPR certification
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures

Additional Requirements:

- Continuing Education as required by state

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
- Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
- Must be able to sit and climb stairs
- Must have visual and hearing acuity
- Must have a strong sense of smell and touch

Environment:

- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
