Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Writing Mentors at Diné College. As a Writing Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students in their academic writing endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend instructors' classes and provide support to students as needed.
  • Review instructor materials related to assignments and assist students in understanding the requirements.
  • Work with students on all stages of the writing process, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, researching, and revising their texts for ENG 101 and 102.
  • Help students obtain course materials and provide guidance on using MS Word, PowerPoint, and OneDrive.
  • Assist students in understanding the relationship between Dine Educational Philosophy (DEP) and good study habits, including the use of AI-based learning platforms.
  • Help students write Student Concept Narratives (SCN) about college-level mathematical concepts and become self-directed in their academic efforts.
Requirements
  • Must have completed ENG 101 & 102 with an 'A' letter grade.
  • Knowledge of academic writing conventions, genres, and citation formats.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, Blackboard, Zoom, and navigating academic library databases.
  • Ability to work well with others, be independently directed, and effectively communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ability to be highly organized, manage multiple appointments, and keep accurate records and data.
