Responsibilities:

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment utilizing infection control and safety practices.
  • Possessing knowledge of equipment function to determine operational adequacy and distinguish between operator error and equipment malfunction.
  • Applying understanding of sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform assignments safely.
  • Using OneSource as a resource for assembling and wrapping appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Being familiar with processes, procedures, quality assurance, chemicals, and medical instruments to decontaminate and sterilize equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Performing bending, lifting, and washing using decontamination processes involving instrument pans, bins, trays, and carts of various sizes.
  • Possessing skills in cleaning specialized equipment and differentiating tactile factors such as temperature and moisture.
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of experience
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
  • Ability to lift and move trays of instruments and patient care equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong telephone manners and problem-solving skills
