Job Title: Evening Custodian

Mason County Schools is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Evening Custodian to join our team. As a key member of our facilities staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings and grounds.

Job Summary:

The Evening Custodian will perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and buffing floors, as well as cleaning rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture. You will also be responsible for setting up and breaking down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting rooms and functional areas. Additionally, you will assist with grounds-keeping duties, clearing debris, and maintaining the grounds.

Responsibilities:
  • Check and secure buildings at the beginning and end of shift to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of the building according to school district standards.
  • Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floors.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
  • Remove graffiti and clean glass areas.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting rooms and functional areas.
  • Clear snow from entrances and walks, and spread sand and ice melting chemicals.
  • Perform grounds-keeping duties, clear debris, and maintain grounds.
  • Receive deliveries and assist in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas of the building.
  • Empty wastebaskets, pick up and remove trash, and assist in the recycling program.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
  • Driver's license or ability to provide own transportation preferred.
Working Conditions:

The Evening Custodian will work in a standard office and school building environment, with occasional outdoor work in inclement weather conditions. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc. is possible.
