POSITION OVERVIEW

The IT Systems Architect will be an integral part of a team of technology experts, focusing on critical infrastructure such as servers, operating systems, databases, web application servers, and various network types including local area, wide area, and wireless networks. JOANN leverages top-tier technology from leading enterprise vendors like Microsoft, IBM, HP, Dell, Google, and Cisco, alongside established open-source solutions. This role requires adherence to the organization's core values and operational principles, performing comprehensive Database Administration on Microsoft SQL Server and similar database technologies across both Windows and Linux environments. Responsibilities may encompass system administration, troubleshooting, analysis, testing, research, training, general problem-solving, technical support, and the implementation of new systems.

As a key member of the IT department, the IT Systems Architect will actively contribute to the stability and efficiency of JOANN's IT infrastructure. Through a combination of daily operational support and project-based tasks, this position offers significant opportunities for professional development and career advancement. In addition to formal training, guidance and mentorship will be provided by senior team members. Participation in a 24/7 on-call support rotation is a requirement for this role. Responsibilities extend to the Store Support Center, multiple distribution centers, and various retail operations across numerous locations, supporting a large user base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Systems and Applications Design:
    • Develops solutions that meet specified requirements while ensuring that technical designs align with departmental standards.
  • Systems and Applications Implementation:
    • Installs necessary hardware and software to support ongoing projects and existing systems, conducting unit tests to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Systems and Applications Testing:
    • Collaborates with other IT teams to perform comprehensive end-to-end testing, ensuring that designs and implementations meet or exceed established requirements.
  • Systems and Applications Support:
    • Provides ongoing support for production systems, resolving issues in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs). Identifies and documents root causes of problems, striving to enhance systems and processes for improved simplicity, stability, and efficiency.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

Minimum Experience: 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in a large-scale retail IT environment.
