About the Role

Dignity Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Oncologist to join our team at Dignity Health Mercy Regional Cancer Center. As a Medical Oncologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our comprehensive cancer program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care
    • Diagnose and treat various medical conditions, including hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, taking into account the latest medical advancements and best practices.
    • Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories, using your expertise to identify potential health risks and develop effective treatment strategies.
  • Communication
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged in the treatment process.
    • Provide clear and concise medical information, using plain language to explain complex medical concepts.
    • Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, using electronic health records to streamline documentation and improve patient care.
    • Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans, ensuring that all relevant information is captured and easily accessible.
    • Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations, using your knowledge of medical coding and billing to optimize revenue cycle management.
  • Diagnostic Procedures
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging, using your expertise to identify potential health risks and develop effective treatment strategies.
    • Perform procedures as needed, using your skills and training to provide high-quality patient care.
    • Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals, using your expertise to contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
    • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, using your knowledge of medical best practices to drive quality improvement.
    • Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers, using your expertise to inform and educate other healthcare professionals.

    • Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, using your expertise to ensure that Dignity Health remains compliant with all relevant regulations.
    • Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to standards, using your knowledge of medical best practices to drive quality improvement.

Requirements

  • A valid and unrestricted California medical license.
  • Completion of an Oncology Fellowship and Board Eligible/Board Certified.
