FairWind Inc. is a prominent provider of wind turbine installation and maintenance solutions. We are currently in search of skilled Major Components Exchange (MCE) Technicians who possess extensive knowledge in Vestas and GE wind turbines. The ideal candidates will have significant experience in executing major component exchanges, such as gearboxes and generators, ensuring that wind turbines operate at peak efficiency with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Component Exchange:
    • Execute the removal and installation of critical wind turbine components, including gearboxes and generators.
    • Employ specialized tools and equipment to facilitate safe and efficient component exchanges.
    • Ensure that all exchanges adhere to established specifications and quality benchmarks.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance:
    • Perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify issues with major components.
    • Carry out necessary repairs and adjustments to guarantee optimal functionality post-exchange.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations during all mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Commissioning and Testing:
    • Oversee the commissioning of newly installed components to confirm operational readiness.
    • Conduct functional testing and calibration of systems following component exchanges.
    • Document and report on commissioning processes and outcomes.
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Vestas and GE wind turbines to avert component failures.
    • Diagnose and rectify faults in major components to reduce downtime and enhance turbine performance.
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities align with safety and quality standards.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment.
    • Engage in safety meetings and training sessions.
    • Ensure that all work complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of component exchanges, maintenance, and repair activities.
    • Provide detailed reports on tasks performed, including any challenges faced and solutions implemented.
    • Utilize relevant software and tools for accurate documentation and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with basic power tools.
  • Valid driver's license with no recent DWI/DUI/OUI offenses.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to climb heights of up to 300 ft. twice daily.
  • GWO certifications are highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and be away from home.
  • Demonstrated experience with Vestas and GE wind turbines.
