We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman Oceanic Systems in Annapolis, Maryland. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Continual Improvement (CI) efforts throughout the product lifecycle for complex undersea electromechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
- Review mechanical design drawings with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
- Develop and maintain the product manufacturing plan, including manufacturing processes, procedures, shop floor layouts, equipment installation, design of new tooling, machining, material handling, inspection, and test requirements.
- Monitor and improve manufacturing performance on the shop floor, investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Support repair and refurbishment of returned equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent (or 3 years with an MS degree).
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance (this requires US citizenship).
- Experience reviewing mechanical design drawings with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience reviewing design drawings for manufacturability.
- Experienced with tool and fixture design for machining and/or mechanical assembly.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or metallurgical specialties.
- Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Naval systems design and/or manufacturing experience.
- Electronics manufacturing experience.
- Experience working with 2 to 5 axis machining.
- Siemens NX modeling and drafting experience.
- Six Sigma or Lean-Agile Certification.
- Mastercam programming experience.
- Automated manufacturing experience.
- Additive manufacturing (3D Printing) experience.
- Welding experience.
Northrop Grumman offers a competitive salary range of $93,000 - $139,600, with the potential for a discretionary bonus. We also provide a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
