Company Overview:

A multi-office engineering firm is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their team. This role is open in various offices across the region.

This position involves designing and developing infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment plants, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Ideal Candidate:

• 4 to 10+ years of experience in civil or environmental engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or eligibility to sit for the exam
• Strong background in utilities and treatment plant design

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field
• PE registration in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain licensure within 6 to 12 months
• Strong proficiency in WaterCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
• U.S. citizenship
• Knowledge of municipal and applicable local, state, and federal agency regulations to determine design parameters
• Familiarity with agency procedures and regulations for municipal water and wastewater systems
• Ability to develop conceptual layouts based on clients' objectives and due diligence work
• Experience managing, planning, and providing design or design oversight of water/wastewater line and plant projects
• Ability to perform supporting calculations to demonstrate designs meet all applicable regulations
• Experience preparing technical specifications and construction cost estimates
• QA/QC of own designs and designs completed by others
• Ability to recognize developing technical problems and initiate appropriate corrective actions
• Responsibility for organizing all aspects of submittals and deliverables
• Ability to monitor own work and that of project team to ensure budgets and schedules are met
• As experience progresses, ability to train less experienced team members in technical design, processing, and company procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the design of water distribution or sewerage collection systems
• Experience in the design of water/wastewater treatment plants
• EI with 45 years of experience and close to obtaining P.E.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and a friendly demeanor
• Enthusiasm for generating and pursuing business opportunities
• Strong self-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
