About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team at New Story Schools. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and behavioral needs of our students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide individualized support to students, helping them to understand and complete assignments
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and a productive learning atmosphere
  • Act as a bridge between students and teachers, helping to clarify instructions and ensure each student's needs are understood and met
  • Aid in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials, adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Offer emotional support and a compassionate presence to help students navigate emotional and social challenges
Qualifications
  • Educational background: High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in special education, psychology, or a related field is a plus
  • Relevant experience: Experience working with children with special needs or autism (e.g., RBT, mental health technician, teacher assistant, teacher aide)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators and specialists
