Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Airplane Pilot to join our team at the Occupational Safety & Health Administration. As an Airplane Pilot, you will be responsible for piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes, high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical/non-tactical assigned missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques in conjunction with air navigational aids.
Key Responsibilities- Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes, high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical/non-tactical assigned missions.
- Prepare for flight, including securing current and forecast weather information, planning the flight route, and verifying the airplane's readiness for flight.
- Ensure the safety of passengers and crew members by briefing them on the nature and purpose of the flight and emergency procedures.
- Obtain the proper clearances to begin the flight and operate the airplane with the utmost safety.
- Accomplish post-flight activities, including maintaining airplane logs and forms, writing flight reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.
- Serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing duties as Supervisor of Flying (SOF) and be responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit.
- National Guard membership is required.
- Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must have a competent understanding of the occupation's basic principles and concepts.
- Must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.
- Must have at least two years of working experience in civilian aviation programs, military service aviation programs, or in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facility or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
