Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin–Platteville is seeking a skilled Counselor to provide mental health services to students. As a key member of the University Counseling Services team, you will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to promote a healthy campus environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and couples counseling to students using a brief psychotherapy model.
  • Develop and facilitate outreach and success programming to educate students about mental health.
  • Consult with the director and other UCS staff on case management issues.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support services to students and their families.
  • Collaborate with other University departments to promote a healthy campus environment.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • Professional licensure in counseling or social work, or eligibility for licensure in Wisconsin within 6 months.
  • Experience providing mental health counseling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule with flexible hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years mental health counseling experience.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Proficiency in providing short-term, developmentally-focused psychotherapy.
