Job Summary

As a Preventionist-Infection & Employee Health RN, you will play a critical role in ensuring the healthcare environment is free from infection and promoting a safe and healthy work environment for employees. This position requires a strong background in infection prevention and control, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform infection prevention surveillance for hospital-acquired infections based on NHSN guidelines
  • Ensure correct isolation procedures are practiced and monitor the healthcare environment to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and infection prevention policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives addressing infection prevention/employee health issues
  • Manage all aspects of workers compensation accurately and efficiently to assure compliance with recordkeeping requirements and facilitate employee's return to optimal functional status
  • Demonstrate the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care needs
  • Apply evidence-based practice guidelines and regulatory standards when assessing the environment, observing patient care activities and processes, assessing employee health activities, and developing/revising policies and procedures
  • Act as the subject matter expert and leader regarding infection prevention/employee health issues
  • Participate in the development of goals and objectives based upon the annual risk assessment results and assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Plan
  • Manage all aspects of employee medical leave accurately and efficiently
  • Demonstrate initiative in professional development and continuing education
  • Participate in Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) for construction and renovation projects and make recommendations regarding construction and renovation
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of Infection Prevention/Employee Health data and present and discuss pertinent data at various committee meetings
  • Prepare and present educational workshops, lectures, discussions, or one-to-one instruction on infection prevention/employee health topics
  • Understand, apply, and support departmental/entity/system policies, guidelines, procedures, and standards
  • Exhibit efficiency, competency, and professionalism that promotes a positive work environment
Requirements, Preferences, and Experience
  • Minimum: Three years of clinical experience as a registered nurse required
  • Two years of experience in Infection Prevention preferred
  • Current licensure as registered nurse required
  • BSN preferred
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required or attain within 3 years of hire
