Job Title: Wine Steward

Job Summary:

The Wine Steward at Bar Vinazo is a hybrid role that combines administrative work and cellar organization with front-of-house, customer-facing responsibilities. This position requires a unique blend of skills, including wine knowledge, organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Admin and Cellar Organization Shifts:

  • Ordering: Research and source wines for by-the-bottle (BTB) and by-the-glass (BTG) lists, set up tastings, and recommend wines for the list.
  • Receiving: Put all invoices in the Beverage Invoices folder, add coding to invoices, and note wine and liquor on invoices with food.
  • Stocking: Stock wines in their appropriate places, inform management and staff of bin and wine location changes, and maintain the cellar map.
  • Inventory: Conduct daily BTG inventory, monthly inventory on the 1st of the month, and keep the liquor room organized.
  • Admin: Price wines for the list, edit and print menus, create buttons for new wines, and remove old buttons for out of stock wines.

Wine Captain Shifts:

  • Education & Floor Assistance: Assist in wine education of the team, assist team members in recommending wine, provide sommelier service, and assist the manager with SOPs and training new staff members.
  • Have availability to cover for call-outs, ensure service runs smoothly when the manager is not on site, and oversee FOH ordering.
