Position Overview:

The Packaging Operator plays a crucial role in the production process by operating packaging machinery effectively, ensuring that all products are packaged to meet specified standards while upholding exceptional quality control measures. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the capability to resolve minor equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Set up, run, and fine-tune packaging machinery to ensure accurate and efficient product packaging, which includes filling, sealing, labeling, and coding.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections of products and packaging materials to identify defects or inconsistencies, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on packaging machinery, including cleaning and lubrication, and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
  • Production Monitoring: Track and report production rates, making necessary adjustments to machinery settings to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines to maintain a secure working environment, promptly reporting any hazards or incidents.
  • Documentation: Keep precise records of packaging operations, including quantities produced and materials utilized, while completing necessary reports.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure a seamless production process, sharing feedback to enhance packaging operations.
  • Inspection Records: Maintain accurate documentation of inspections to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Inventory Oversight: Assist in monitoring inventory levels of packaging materials, ensuring proper storage and timely replenishment.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and address minor technical issues with packaging equipment, escalating more complex problems as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or production managers to support operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical manuals and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in packaging machinery is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Work Environment:

Work is conducted in a production facility where personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. The environment includes moving machinery and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Exposure to varying noise levels, particularly in operational areas.
