Dermatology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Dermatologist to join our team at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System in Monterey, California.

The VA Palo Alto Healthcare System is part of the VA Sierra Pacific Network, serving veterans in California, Nevada, and Hawaii. Our healthcare system operates over 800 beds, including three nursing homes and a homeless domiciliary. We provide comprehensive health care services through primary, tertiary, and long-term care in various specialties.

The successful candidate will work as a Dermatologist in our clinic, managing high-quality patient care while collaborating with a dynamic and engaged local team. This position reports directly to the Chief of Dermatology Service.

• Evaluate and manage eligible patients in the Dermatology clinic
• Provide extensive expertise in treating various dermatologic conditions
• Practice safety, environmental, and infection control methods
• Evaluate and advise primary physicians on inpatients hospitalized at the Palo Alto VA for which consults are requested
• Support programs in critical areas, establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence
• Exercise initiative and judgment in day-to-day activities
• Train and supervise medical students and residents in Dermatology

• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program and subsequent Board Eligibility and/or Board Certification in Dermatology
• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
• Clinical expertise in outpatient dermatology and consultation, including pre-operative evaluation
• Leadership skills in designing and implementing programs

The annual salary for this position is $385,000 plus incentives, including performance pay up to $15,000. This position is also eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), offering student loan payment reimbursement.
