We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Disability Rights Advocate to join our team at the Disability Policy Consortium. As a key member of our Advocacy Department, you will play a critical role in advancing disability rights and promoting social justice.

The Disability Policy Consortium is an independent organization run by and for people with disabilities that provides advocacy, community-based research, and healthcare ombudsman services across Massachusetts. Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading multiple campaigns to improve access to durable medical equipment (DME) and reduce wheelchair repair times. The successful candidate will work closely with our Director of Advocacy and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies to drive change.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead campaigns to shorten wheelchair repair times and improve DME access through legislative and regulatory efforts;
  • Maintain relationships with community members, advocates, and policymakers to advance disability rights;
  • Develop and implement public education and outreach strategies to raise awareness about disability issues;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support policy development and analysis;
  • Represent the Disability Policy Consortium on relevant coalitions and forums;
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant policies and regulations affecting people with disabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in community organizing or advocacy, preferably with a focus on disability rights;
  • Strong knowledge of disability policies and procedures, including MassHealth regulations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Comfort with technology and data management systems.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 to $48,000 per year, plus benefits including health insurance premium reimbursement, fully paid dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, three weeks of accrued paid vacation time, two weeks of accrued paid sick time, thirteen paid holidays, and a 403(B) retirement plan option with employer match.
