Role Summary
The Field Service Technician plays a crucial role by traveling extensively to troubleshoot, maintain, and initiate KHS filling and packaging machinery. This position serves as a vital communication link between our clients and the company, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive travel assignments from scheduling personnel and arrange timely travel in accordance with client needs.
- Engage with clients to identify machine issues, conduct initial troubleshooting, and ascertain the location of problems.
- Execute hands-on electrical and mechanical repairs on designated KHS USA equipment, ensuring optimal functionality as per specifications, while coordinating with the Parts department for necessary orders.
- Diagnose and modify Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs as required.
- Inspect and document any missing or bypassed safety features on KHS USA machinery, ensuring replacements or repairs are made.
- Provide training to clients for effective operation and maintenance, including guidance on adjustments for varying packaging sizes or formats, and prepare preliminary invoices for client approval.
- Collaborate with senior technicians to commission new machinery, verify power systems and wiring, and ensure proper functionality of machine components while adhering to safety protocols.
- Prepare accurate and professional documentation, including Equipment Acceptance Reports, Service Work Reports, and Expense Reports, ensuring timely submission within three weeks post-service. Conduct periodic assessments of client spare parts inventory and recommend additional orders to facilitate ongoing equipment maintenance.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering, or equivalent education/training, complemented by strong mechanical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of machinery within the beverage and packaging sector, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving in technical scenarios.
- Demonstrated flexibility, assertiveness, and organizational capabilities.
- Confident demeanor and professional appearance.
- Willingness to travel extensively, up to 90% of the time.
