Position Overview:

About Us:
Miami Federal encompasses a range of companies certified as Tribally owned 8(a)s, specializing in construction, information technology, software development, facilities management, training, event management, and environmental services for both federal and civilian sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
This pivotal role involves supporting federal contracting initiatives across all aspects of accounting, finance, and compliance. The Federal Project Accountant will:

1. Manage daily and month-end closing entries, including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
2. Prepare intricate reconciliations for essential balance sheet accounts and various general ledger accounts as required.
3. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
4. Develop a comprehensive understanding of accounting operations and recommend internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Invoice Management:
- Prepare customer invoices for various contract types, ensuring accurate interaction with clients as necessary.
- Code and process vendor invoices promptly and accurately.
- Review all invoices for proper documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Oversee employee expense reports.

5. Collaborate with external auditors and tax accountants during year-end, preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
6. Assist in the preparation of year-end 1099 submissions.
7. Support project management with relevant reports.
8. Respond to team member requests and manage deadlines effectively.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Required) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of government contract accounting (Required).
- Proficiency in Costpoint (Required).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and enterprise systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, discretion, and a strong ethical foundation.
- Solid grasp of Accounting Principles and GAAP.
- Knowledge of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
- Understanding of government contract compliance regulations (FAR, CAS preferred).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple initiatives.
- Experience with 8(a) companies, particularly Tribal or Alaska Native Corporations, is advantageous.
- Knowledge of construction accounting is a plus.
