Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Patient Service Representative is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support services in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic care to clinic patients, adhering to established standards and practices.
  • Recognize and report any changes in patient condition to providers.
  • Obtain and verify patient information, including demographics and insurance details.
  • Accurately process physicians' referrals and orders, and enter tests into our electronic medical record system.
  • Schedule appointments and radiological testing procedures, and confirm patient schedules.
  • Provide standardized clinical instructions and directions to patients, and monitor waiting times.
  • Ensure benefits and eligibility have been verified for all scheduled patients.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including filing, sending medical records, and appointment scheduling.
  • Collect and handle lab specimens, adhering to infection control safety guidelines.
  • Utilize electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant training program with documented clinical practicum hours, or Medical Assistant certification, or a minimum of one-year experience in a medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes, and basic and specialty specific medical terminology.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions, while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
