Position Overview:

We are seeking an Intermediate Geologist with 2 to 6 years of experience for a field-based role. This position offers a dynamic, collaborative work environment and an exceptional opportunity for career advancement. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of hydrogeological and environmental engineering projects, with a significant portion of the work conducted in the field, which may occasionally require night and weekend commitments. The selected individual will assist our water resource department with geology, soils, surface water, and groundwater services for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare comprehensive work scopes.
  • Communicate site conditions with senior staff and make field determinations based on site data.
  • Interpret geological information; prepare boring logs, cross sections, and groundwater flow maps.
  • Contribute significantly as a team member on hydrogeological and environmental projects.
  • Manage well drilling crews and oversee data collection and quality control.
  • Develop key components of reports, presentations, and work plans under senior staff guidance.
  • Assist in directing junior staff to fulfill project assignments.
  • Support the preparation of subcontract documents and reports under senior engineers' direction.
  • Potentially engage in groundwater and surface water modeling tasks.
  • Create geographic information system (GIS) maps.
  • Coordinate data evaluation and report preparation.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
  • 2 - 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Geologist certification in Florida is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Florida's geology and hydrogeology, with skills in soil and rock classification.
  • Experience with aquifer performance testing and geophysical logging is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using analytical and field equipment for hydrogeological investigations.
  • Ability to supervise field personnel and manage drillers on projects.
  • Effective collaboration with other technical professionals.
  • Neat and legible handwriting is essential for detailed documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and write detailed reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Bilingual capability (Spanish) is a plus.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current refresher training preferred.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR training preferred.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel and perform fieldwork (approximately 25% travel required).
  • Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
