Key Responsibilities:

This senior leadership position involves close collaboration with the Portfolio Manager, External Investment Management for Private Alternatives, the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and other senior investment leaders across various asset classes. The primary focus will be on one or two sub-asset classes within private markets investments, such as Private Equity, Private Credit, or Real Assets, in partnership with external investment management firms. The assets managed collaboratively and strategic initiatives are anticipated to exceed $1 billion. This role will also engage with Public and Private Markets Portfolio Managers, the Asset Allocation Strategy group, and Investment Operations.

The incumbent will play a crucial role in overseeing portfolio construction aspects related to external mandates in private markets, leading risk and performance analytics initiatives across these sectors. Additionally, the role will encompass managing periodic investment-related projects and economic analyses pertinent to asset allocation, necessitating collaboration with internal portfolio management leadership.

The position will oversee a small team of generalists and specialists, with opportunities to recruit top talent, including interns and rotational hires. The focus will primarily be on private market investments across various asset classes managed by external partners. Over time, this role will include mid-level direct reports and junior team members, along with associated people management responsibilities. The externally managed private markets portfolio encompasses a wide array of styles and strategies, requiring proficiency in concepts such as private equity, private real assets (including real estate and infrastructure), and private credit strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees such as MBA, CFA, CAIA, or similar in investments, economics, finance, or quantitative analysis preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in investments, financial markets, or financial risk management.
  • Experience in global financial markets, investments, risk management, and economics across various asset classes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial markets and investments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, analytical, and collaborative skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, including investment accounting, legal, and tax departments.
  • Capacity to function as both a tactical and strategic thinker, adapting to and positively influencing new processes.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching abilities, with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with people management skills and leadership experience.
  • Expertise in utilizing Bloomberg, FactSet, and similar investment systems, with the ability to adapt to new investment risk management tools.

The compensation package will be commensurate with individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
