Job Summary

SAIC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Facilities Engineer to support our operations in Chantilly, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term plans to optimize the efficiency and performance of mechanical systems.
  • Perform design analyses and calculations for mechanical projects, including comparative cost analysis.
  • Conduct technical reviews of mechanical engineering designs, calculations, and specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives or standards.
  • Manage capital improvement projects, including developing project alternatives, scopes of work, and justification.
  • Develop and review maintenance procedures and policies, and provide technical expertise for troubleshooting failures and repairs.
  • Optimize equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency by analyzing equipment performance data and maintenance practices.
Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6 years of experience with federal projects or 7 years of experience in industry.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling load, hydronic pressure drop, and psychrometric analysis.
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes and guidelines, including SMACNA, ASHRAE, and IBC.
  • Knowledge of design analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical facilities infrastructure, including HVAC, chilled water, and steam systems.
  • Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis and life-cycle cost analyses.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License.
Desired Qualifications
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Knowledge of technical software packages, including AutoCAD and SixSigma.
