Position Summary:
The Sales Estimation Specialist plays a pivotal role in the sales process by actively managing the technology evaluation phase. This position collaborates closely with the sales team, serving as the primary technical advisor and product advocate. The individual must effectively communicate technology and product positioning to both business and technical stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Systems Controls Design:
- Product Selection: Identifying optimal sensors, valves, materials, and end devices that deliver the best performance-to-cost ratio aligned with project specifications.
- Network Design: Developing systems using platforms such as Alerton, Honeywell, Tridium, Encelium, and potential future acquisitions.
- Project Cost Estimation: Accurately assessing costs related to materials and labor.
- Subcontract Procurement: Competitively scoping jobs with electrical and other trades.
- AutoCAD Submittal Drawings: Generating design assist and final design submittal drawings for Climatec, contractor clients, and engineers.
- Site Visits: Conducting field assessments at potential work sites when plans are unavailable.
Sales Responsibilities:
- Proposal Writing: Crafting clear and concise reports or presentations that communicate the value proposition offered by Climatec.
- Customer Engagement: Proactively reaching out to existing and prospective contractors, engineers, and clients to represent the company.
- Project Follow-Up: Engaging with potential bidders for project award information leading up to deal closure.
Construction Responsibilities:
- Contract Document Management: Organizing plans and specifications, maintaining records of all changes, and archiving project information for operational turnover.
- Project Management Support: Acting as a liaison between operations and clients or contractors to facilitate coordination, especially for new or recurring work.
- Project Turnover Meetings: Presenting both technical and intangible project features to the operations team to ensure a seamless transition.
Qualifications:
- Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in estimating within the Building Automation sector or related design engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of sales strategy development.
- Familiarity with basic computer systems, including the MS Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems controls design.
- Experience in product selection for various components.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, maintaining a clean driving record.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of estimating experience in the Building Automation field.
- 1+ years of experience in Commercial HVAC.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Tridium, Distech, and/or Alerton control systems.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Bid Tracer, or similar construction takeoff software.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems controls design and network design.
- Proficiency in creating AutoCAD submittal drawings.
- Experience in proposal writing and effectively communicating value propositions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to spend considerable time on construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, and crawl as necessary.
