Job Summary:

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the cleaning of the plant production equipment and facility to meet food safety requirements as required by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as by DFA to meet customer quality and safety standards. This role ensures employees follow Company policies and procedures, maintains sanitation quality and department efficiencies at or above standards, and supports the commitment to Food Safety and Quality programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise the cleaning of plant production equipment and facility to meet food safety requirements
• Ensure employees follow Company policies and procedures
• Maintain sanitation quality and department efficiencies at or above standards
• Support the commitment to Food Safety and Quality programs
• Develop and document cleaning procedures, including SSOPs and cleaning logs
• Train and document all sanitation workers for the safe operation and disassembly of equipment
• Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment
• Ensure food safety and quality control specifications are met
• Ensure compliance with all company GMPs
• Develop, maintain, and comply with Master Sanitation Schedule
• Systematically develop clear and well-defined cleaning procedures for all equipment and facility areas
• Work closely with management and chemical suppliers on chemical and process changes to improve sanitation results and reduce costs
• Protect product during sanitation
• Supervise, motivate, and train sanitation production workers
• Coordinate all sanitation and some production items for the plant
• Coordinate with R&D and Quality Assurance on all sanitation issues concerning production, new products, special runs, etc.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on any set-up machinery, pump, mill problems, etc.
• Ensure that quality, productivity, and Food Safety issues are met for packaging, processing equipment
• Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 2+ years of manufacturing experience in the food industry; food industry sanitation experience preferred
• Able to read and interpret documents, such as MSDS, safety rules, and procedure manuals
• Able to write reports
• Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent when preparing cleaning chemicals
• Efficiently utilize a personal computer outfitted with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred; HACCP certification preferred
• 2+ years in a similar role; experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
• Skilled in analytical, critical, inductive, and deductive logic and reasoning
• Skilled in adaptable, flexible, yet effective time and scheduling management
• Occasionally required to conduct meetings or lead group discussions
