Job Summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist I to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging studies, applying principles of radiation protection, and exercising professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, utilizing appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Position patients, select proper technical factors, and utilize computer to record patient status.
  • Function proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality, assist physician in performing imaging studies, and prepare contrast media for administration to patients.
  • Work independently in assigned areas, practicing radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients, and handle patients in conformance with all established safety procedures.
  • Process images and patient records in conformance with all established operational procedures, recognize patient conditions requiring immediate action, and initiate life support measures where appropriate.
  • Instruct patients in exam procedures, maintain technical imaging equipment in proper working condition, and report malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Contribute to the orientation of new staff technologists and student technologists as required, and perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school for radiologic technologists.
  • Current certification by ARRT (VI) - Vascular Interventional and licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
  • Two years of previous experience working in Interventional/Special Procedures setting is preferred.
