Job Summary

The Safety and Security Associate will promote a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment for guests, tenants, staff, and community members of all backgrounds. This role is responsible for ensuring that everyone follows proper safety procedures and protocols, identifying and eliminating hazards, and providing security detail as outlined in post orders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Be on time and report to post in full uniform, maintaining a professional image that includes greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely and kindly.
  • Be proactive in knowing all revisions to post orders and general information from The Jones Center.
  • Continuously monitor cameras or equipment as outlined in the post orders, securing premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
  • Diligently report any suspicious activity and investigate accidents and criminal acts.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports, Logbook Entries, Incident Reports, and all relevant reports related to job assignments.
  • Make recommendations to management on better safety and loss prevention processes as identified during daily routine.
  • Know about any life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV system computers, and other equipment to complete job assignments, ensuring continuous and safe operation of all elevators and access doors.
  • Ensure training and compliance guidelines are met as outlined by The Jones Center.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Communicate daily with the Director of Safety and Security about any security issues or changes that need to be considered or implemented.
  • Assist managers and employees with the safety and security policies and processes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of any information encountered.
  • Ability to perform First-Aid when necessary.
  • Defuse potential volatile situations and intervene when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities

Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar role.
  • CPR/First-Aid Certified or ability to complete CPR/First-Aid Training.
  • Ability to Obtain Private Security Officer License.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary, occasionally standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, climb stairs, and walk as required to perform the duties associated with the role.
