Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Job Description

Cleveland Clinic's Mercy Hospital is seeking a skilled Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Cardiac Stepdown RN, you will provide direct nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular surgery.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patients' conditions to ensure timely interventions.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Provide education to patients and families on post-discharge care and management.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
