The City of High Point is seeking a skilled Transportation Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for performing skilled and technical work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of signal system control devices, as well as assisting with daily operations, technical duties, and general services of the Signal System Division.
About the Job:
This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and teamwork abilities. You will work closely with the Signal System Supervisor to assist with various tasks, including installation, relocation, and maintenance of traffic control devices, as well as collection and analysis of data from automated traffic counters.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, relocation, and maintenance of traffic control devices, including controllers, network ethernet switches, and related signal system devices.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CCTV cameras and cabinets.
- Assist with fiber optic cabling system including pulling, splicing, installing terminating connectors, and interfacing equipment.
- Collect and analyze data from automated traffic counters to inform decisions about roadway improvements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some knowledge and experience in electrical utility work and knowledge of trade equipment and materials preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
- NC driver's license required with CDL endorsement within one year of hire.
