Position Summary
The Mattress Disassembler plays a crucial role in the disassembly of mattresses, box springs, and furniture cushions. This position involves adhering to established guidelines for the separation and retention of recyclable materials during the disassembly process.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Frequent replacement of cutting blades in utility knives is required.
Key Responsibilities
- No formal education or prior experience required.
- Disassemble mattresses by removing covers, cotton, foam, and other fabric materials.
- Sort materials appropriately using designated carts based on fabric type.
- Organize mattress springs and box springs into designated containers.
- Achieve or surpass production standards of 3.75 pieces per hour over a two-week period.
- Assist in unloading mattresses from delivery vehicles as needed.
- Submit production tags for completed mattresses to the Supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping and disposing of waste properly.
- Ensure quality control of recycled materials, ensuring they are free from contaminants.
- Operate machinery for removing metal from wooden frames when required.
- Document relevant information as needed.
- Participate in departmental meetings as directed by the Manager.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Work environment factors may vary based on the specific role. The following are general physical requirements:
- Constant: Standing and near vision.
- Frequent: Bending neck, talking, walking, and visual accommodation.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Occasional: Rotating neck, static neck position, sitting, hearing within 5 feet, and mid-range vision.
