Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Monitor Technician to join our team at Inova Health System. This is a full-time night shift position, working 36 hours per week with weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretations by analyzing and recording atrial and ventricular rates and rhythms.
  • Measure EKG waveforms, using accepted standards and guidelines, to determine appropriate treatment of arrhythmias and immediate intervention of life-threatening situations.
  • Continuously observe monitor screens for proper waveform on each telemetry patient to prevent loss of signal and ensure accurate capture of potential cardiac events.
  • Order and maintain inventory of supplies, demonstrating proficiency in troubleshooting methods.
  • Notify nurse immediately of loss of clear telemetry signal and arrange for coverage when leaving the monitor room.
  • Recognize, record, and inform nurse of abnormalities/changes in patient waveforms.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new Monitor Technicians, delegating duties to appropriate staff and overseeing the daily activities and scheduling of the unit.
  • Recognize and record normal electrocardiogram waveforms.
  • Page STAT to Registered Nurse and healthcare team members for any patient with life-threatening arrhythmias and initiate MSET per unit policy.
  • Maintain continuous printout during emergency situations, as evidenced by documentation of MSET waveforms and MSET evaluation forms.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: High School or GED
  • 5 Years of telemetry monitoring experience
