Ecological Restoration Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Ecological Restoration Specialist to join our team at V3 Companies. As a key member of our Ecological Restoration team, you will play a crucial role in studying and understanding natural ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and environmental processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out tasks related to ecosystem restoration and management, including the application of herbicides and manual weed removal.
  • Install native plant plugs and erosion control measures, and conduct brush clearing and tree cutting.
  • Participate in prescribed burning and coordinate with construction foremen, project managers, and ecologists.
  • Facilitate site assessments, field monitoring, and reporting, and assist with project administration.
Requirements:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline, with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Passion for ecosystems, natural resource conservation, and the outdoors.
  • Proficient knowledge of native and non-native plant species of the Chicago region.
  • Licensed herbicide applicator or ability to obtain the license through the state of Illinois state herbicide exam.
  • Ability to perform physical labor throughout the year, with a valid driver's license.
