Civil Laborer/ Pipelayer

Job Summary

The Construction Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, and heavy construction projects. This role may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers in ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones
Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications
Perform materials handling and storage
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations per project plans and specifications

Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires good manual dexterity, multilimbed coordination, and excellent stamina. The employee must be able to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
