Position Overview:

The Mechanic for Heavy Machinery will play a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment utilized in the coal mining sector. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring optimal performance and safety of machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic assessments on heavy machinery to identify malfunctions.
  2. Repair and replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  3. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  4. Troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical issues using advanced diagnostic tools.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols to promote a secure working environment.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as a heavy machinery mechanic, ideally within the coal mining industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to lift and maneuver heavy machinery parts and tools.
  • Comfortable working in diverse weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work at heights and in noisy, dusty environments.
