Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to oversee the coordination, planning, and supervision of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) scopes of work on complex data center projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to remain flexible and adaptable, and a strong commitment to customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities for MEP scopes of work.
  • Develop and enhance customer relationships through excellent service.
  • Plan and implement strategies to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
  • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, and coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers.
  • Participate in the development and management of a project schedule, including three and six-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Develop a site logistics plan and manage the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with project partner superintendents and supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews.
  • Conduct on-site project orientations, pre-construction planning sessions, and project site meetings.
  • Interview, hire, transfer, and terminate craft team members as needed.
  • Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members.
  • Manage and track work progress and craft productivity, and ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards.
  • Manage craft team member training and conduct career development discussions with foremen and craft team members.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of construction experience with 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor.
  • Ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex data center projects.
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
  • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Microsoft Office skills at an intermediate level.
  • Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affirmative Action plans and their intended use.
  • Current driver's license.
Education
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering, or 10 years of trade experience.
