Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

The Vision Systems Analyst team operates within the Core Technology Engineering (CTE) division at Intuitive. The objective of this group is to ensure the highest quality of imaging for our surgeons across all daVinci robotic systems. The primary focus is on imaging algorithms, tuning, and calibration of endoscopes, displays, and illuminators essential for achieving outstanding image quality. Additionally, we assist in specifying and defining the light sources, optics, sensors, and displays utilized in daVinci robotic systems, as these components are critical to surgical image quality.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop, implement, and enhance techniques and algorithms for characterizing and calibrating imaging sensors, optics, and cameras.
  • Conduct image quality assessments for new features and algorithms through experimental evaluations, providing direct insights to engineering and clinical teams.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for technology selection and iterative improvements.
  • Ensure exceptional camera video quality for clinicians.
  • Support formal risk assessments and documentation for regulatory submissions.
Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • Master's or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, imaging science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in imaging.
  • Knowledge and experience with cameras, displays, and illumination sources.
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Experience in both subjective and objective image quality evaluation.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++.
