We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and analyzing clinical laboratory tests in all laboratory disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze samples in a timely and orderly fashion, meeting usual and customary levels of productivity.
- Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments according to policies and procedures.
- Take appropriate action for quality control in all technical areas and follow infection control procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.
- Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.
- Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results.
- Maintain all patient and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.
- Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science or a related science.
- State licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) within 90 days of hire.
- One year of clinical lab training/experience or equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Experience as a Medical Technologist.
