Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for evaluating and caring for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, and implementing and monitoring patient care plans and equipment.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Assessment and Planning:
- Evaluate patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment, develop a plan of care based on diagnosis, and implement the plan according to department policies and procedures.
- Implementation and Monitoring:
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, monitor patient condition, record and communicate with healthcare teams, and perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
- Education and Patient Engagement:
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, provide information about community support groups and available programs, and promote healthy behaviors.
- Maintenance and Quality Assurance:
- Assist with maintenance and calibration of equipment, maintain inventory levels for supplies and equipment, process equipment according to established cleaning and sterilization procedures, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses, working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Education:
- Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
- Experience:
- No experience required.
- Professional Licenses and Certifications:
- BLS HCP certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), CRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and Respiratory Care Practitioner, Registered certification from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
