Audubon North Carolina seeks a skilled Conservation Coordinator to manage beach-nesting bird colonies on Wrightsville Beach. The successful candidate will recruit, train, and supervise volunteer bird stewards, ensuring the protection of these vulnerable species.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit and train volunteers to act as bird stewards at nesting colonies.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure optimal steward presence at the colony.
- Perform steward duties as needed, including leading field trips and collecting data.
- Support volunteers through logistical support and communication.
- Collect counts of human or dog entry into posted areas and assist with nest censuses.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
- Experience with public speaking and interacting with the public.
- Demonstrated interest in protecting coastal wildlife in North Carolina.
- Knowledge of beach-nesting bird biology preferred.
A competitive hourly rate of $17.00 and the opportunity to work with a dedicated team protecting coastal wildlife.
