Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Allegheny Health Network. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians and extenders in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist physicians and extenders in providing proper medical care for patients, including rooming and interviewing patients, taking vital signs, and recording medical information.
  • Clinical Support: Provide clinical support to physicians and extenders during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients.
  • Administrative Tasks: Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, restocking supplies, and disposing of biohazard materials. Schedule procedures and obtain authorizations as necessary.
  • Specimen Collection: Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing. Administer injections as needed.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform general clerical tasks, including data entry and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • Education: Medical Assistant diploma or Associate's degree required or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Certifications: CPR - American Heart Association, Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Driver's license may be required for travel between physician offices depending on practice requirements.
