Job Title: Data Center Technician - Hardware Specialist

Job Summary:

Cypress HCM is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician - Hardware Specialist to join our team. As a Data Center Technician - Hardware Specialist, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex hardware issues in our data center. You will work closely with our team of engineers and technicians to ensure the smooth operation of our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic hardware diagnostic and troubleshooting of servers, including identifying and resolving issues with server components, such as hard drives, DIMMs, and power supplies.
  • Troubleshoot basic Linux OS level issues on all servers, including identifying and resolving issues with file systems, permissions, and network connectivity.
  • Install new SSDs and NVMe drives into existing servers, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Assist LinkedIn engineers in troubleshooting all auto-build (Linux Kickstart) nodes that do not build properly (stragglers).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all network connectivity issues at the physical layer (port flapping, port down, link issues, etc.).
  • Resolve manually-generated tickets through cross-functional collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Process (identify, tag, and prepare) all server nodes ready for decommissioning and prepare them for our third-party ITAM vendor to pick up.
  • Assist with any hardware installations that do not fall within the scope of work for quarterly organic growth.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Data Center Technicians in OS level troubleshooting and network troubleshooting.
  • Process (identify, tag, and prepare) all server nodes ready for decommissioning and prepare them for our third-party ITAM vendor to pick up.
  • Ensure LinkedIn's data center house rules are being followed and immediately report any concerns to leadership.
  • Ensure LinkedIn's data center cleanliness, any issues with cleanliness must be reported to leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in a Data Center Engineering Role.
  • 2+ years Linux troubleshooting experience.
  • 2+ years server hardware troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ticket systems like JIRA, Salesforce, ServiceNow.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA A+ or similar.
  • Experience with automation and script use (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and equipment (e.g., switches, routers).
  • Experience using fiber testing equipment and understanding complex network mapping.
