Product Development Scientist

CPS, Inc. (Food & Beverage Division) is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for assisting our strategic customers in creating innovative snack seasonings and spray-dried cheese formulations that meet specific sensory and functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide product development support for customers, including building and sustaining relationships within core customer development teams.
  • Guide technical excellence and differentiation through robust product design, leveraging technology and implementing feedback from internal and external resources.
  • Create market-preferred snack seasonings through bench-top product development, leveraging culinary input, technical innovation, and consumer insights.
  • Guide customer requests by interacting with a broad multifunctional team to provide best-in-class solutions.
  • Conduct plant trials.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of product development experience in the food industry.
  • Seasoning development experience with a good understanding from design to scale-up.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of consumer and general sensory testing, including its application to product development.
  • Experience collecting and interpreting scientific data, including sensory, analytical, and commercialization.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-20%.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS Degree and/or PhD in Food Science or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP, product formulation, and retrieval systems.
  • Technical background with cheese, spray drying, seasonings, or a combination.
