Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department plays a crucial role in Patient Care Services. This position entails a high level of responsibility and accountability for delivering exceptional nursing care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient care for individuals and their families, employing the nursing process with independent judgment and effective communication.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including ancillary and support services, to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on established clinical pathways and protocols.
- Delegate and supervise patient care activities according to patient needs and team competencies.
- Continuously evaluate patient responses to treatments and nursing interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Prepare patients for discharge, ensuring a smooth transition from hospital to home.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Previous experience in emergency care, either as a technician or intern, is advantageous. PRN RNs must possess a minimum of 2 years of acute emergency experience.
- Current certifications in CPR, ACLS, and PALS are required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is mandatory.
- Additional certifications such as ENCP, CEN, and NIHSS are beneficial.
Skills and Attributes
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Exceptional customer service skills are also necessary to provide the best care possible.
